If the first John Wick set the standard, Chapter 2 proves it wasn’t a fluke… this franchise knows exactly what it’s doing.
The sequel expands the world in clever ways, showing us more of the shadowy networks and codes that govern assassins, without ever slowing down the pace.
Keanu Reeves somehow ups his game. Every move is precise, every shot clean, every moment of silence heavy with intent. He’s not just playing an action hero; he’s embodying a myth. The choreography here is jaw-dropping: shootouts through catacombs, hand-to-hand fights that feel like brutal chess matches, and a mirrored hall sequence that could hang in a modern art gallery. Whoa!
The supporting cast makes it richer: Riccardo Scamarcio adds menace with sophistication, Common delivers a worthy rival, and Laurence Fishburne brings charisma to his brief but memorable scenes. Ian McShane’s return reminds us just how much the Continental Hotel adds to the mystique.
Visually, Stahelski crafts a sleek, operatic action film that manages to feel both larger and more intimate. At 8.5/10, Chapter 2 is not just a sequel – it’s a statement. John Wick isn’t slowing down. He’s only getting started.
