Jumanji

Jumanji is a family adventure that somehow manages to be both whimsical and terrifying, depending on your age when you watch it.

As a teenager in the ’90s, I loved Jumanji (8.5/10 mayube?) as a thrill ride of stampeding rhinos, giant spiders, and Robin Williams at his most energetic. Watching it again decades later with my kids, I was struck by how well it still works… though now it’s more a solid 7.5/10, with some effects showing their age.

Williams carries the movie with that unique mix of manic comedy and emotional depth. Kirsten Dunst shows early star quality, and Bonnie Hunt matches Williams’ chaos with grounded charm. The board game’s concept remains irresistible – every dice roll a ticking time bomb. Sure, the CGI hasn’t aged gracefully, and the pacing occasionally stutters, but the sense of adventure and danger still lands.

What makes Jumanji special is its heart: the story of a boy trapped by fear, given a second chance to live. It’s not just about jungle beasts; it’s about bravery, growth, and family.

Verdict: A ’90s classic that still captures imaginations across generations.
