The Lost Bus

I just finished The Lost Bus on Apple TV+ and I’m giving it 7.5/10: a strong, emotionally engaging disaster film that holds up well to the end. The tension is kept alive from start to finish, especially in the wildfire sequences.

McConaughey and America Ferrera give grounded performances that anchor the chaos, and the direction (Greengrass) manages to evoke both fear and heroism without turning everything into spectacle. Visually, the flames, smoke, blocked roads, and collapsing infrastructure feel real and imposing… you often feel you’re inside the fire’s path, not just watching it.

My only real wish: a little more character development for the kids on the bus. A few felt more like symbols of danger rather than individuals with backstories, which slightly weakens the bond you feel with them.

Still, that feels minor in comparison to how effective the rest of the film is. It excuses slipping into a few melodramatic moments, but overall The Lost Bus almost always earns your attention.

If you like survival-dramas based on true events, especially when done with intensity and care, this is one to watch.
