Elemental

Elemental is one of those Pixar films that’s both lovely and uneven… a 7/10 for me and the kids.

The animation is gorgeous: every frame glows, shimmers, or ripples with personality. The central romance between Ember and Wade is sweet and sincere, even if their chemistry feels more symbolic than electric.

But watching it right after Inside Out and Inside Out 2 made me notice how much sharper those films were at exploring emotions and identity. Elemental aims for a similar “feelings meet metaphor” space, but it often tells instead of truly showing. Still, it works as a warm, hopeful story about connection, culture, and acceptance.

It may not hit the emotional heights of Pixar’s best, yet it leaves you smiling – and maybe thinking a bit about how opposites ignite something new.

Verdict: Pretty, heartfelt, but not as deep as its Inside Out cousins.
