Saathiya remains one of the most beloved and deeply emotional love stories from the 2000s, still earning a strong 8/10 on rewatch. The film brilliantly captures the exhilarating rush of an instant connection and the subsequent, often harsh, realities of early marriage.
Shaad Ali’s excellent direction, utilizing a compelling non-linear narrative style, keeps the pace fresh and engaging, making the film feel surprisingly modern even today. The core emotional experience is elevated by A. R. Rahman’s lovely songs, a soundtrack that is inextricably woven into the story’s heart.
This is also one of the rare movies where Vivek Oberoi delivers his most compelling and successful performance, perfectly balancing youthful charm and genuine anguish alongside Rani Mukerji. The entire package – the chemistry, the narrative depth, and the music – makes this a mature, heartfelt romance that holds up perfectly.
