Emotional Ride for Me and My Daughter

Rewatching Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with my daughter flipped my 1998 hate to an 8/10 love fest!

Those first 10 minutes of cheesy college antics still scream over-the-top Bollywood, but brushing past them, the emotions hit hard.

Kajol’s Anjali is pure magic, her tomboy heartbreak and radiant glow stealing every scene – my daughter adored her fire. Salman Khan’s Aman, though brief, is a total show-stealer, his selfless charm breaking hearts. Shah Rukh Khan’s Rahul tugs at you as the widower dad, but the college bro vibe feels cringey now. Rani Mukerji’s Tina is sweet but fades, while Anupam Kher and Archana Puran Singh add quirky laughs.

Karan Johar’s debut, with Jatin-Lalit’s lasting tunes weave nostalgia and tears. The 177-minute runtime drags, and some drama feels forced, but the love and friendship shine, inspiring us both.

A classic worth revisiting for its heart!
