Painful, Not Profound

The Long Walk is one of those movies that sounds profound on paper but collapses in execution…. maybe because it should never have been made as a movie. 5.5/10 for the effort.

I went in expecting tension, philosophy, maybe a bit of emotional punch – instead, I got a slow, self-important slog that confuses endurance for depth. The concept of people helping each other even when only one can survive should’ve been heartbreaking, but it’s staged so mechanically that it becomes illogical and dull.

Barry Keoghan gives it his all, but even his intensity can’t rescue a story that walks in circles, literally and metaphorically. The dialogue feels written to sound deep rather than mean something, and the pacing is glacial.

By the final act, I was half-watching, half-scrolling my phone, waiting for it to end. It’s not the worst adaptation, just one that mistakes pain for poignancy.
