I must say, Vicky Donor is a brilliant, genuine revelation – a film that took a bold, taboo subject and absolutely nailed it with unbelievable heart, humor, and dignity. 8.5/10
From the moment it starts, the concept and execution are a relentless, hilarious joyride, tackling the journey of a reluctant sperm donor with such authentic, laugh-out-loud sensibility, I couldn’t stop smiling.
The true genius, for me, is how the writing and direction perfectly capture the chaos, warmth, and grounded reality of the small-town, middle-class Delhi setting. It’s a story that feels so entirely rooted in its environment that you’re instantly part of the family drama.
Ayushmann Khurrana is fantastic here; he just gets this role, delivering a fantastic, career-defining performance, effortlessly getting under the skin of the charming yet aimless Vicky.
However, the film’s biggest asset, the factor that elevates it from great to phenomenal, is Annu Kapoor as Dr. Baldev Chaddha. Kapoor is an absolute delight! He provides the perfect blend of eccentricity and gravitas that drives the entire narrative forward and steals every single scene he’s in.
This is a personal must-watch for its freshness, flawless comedic rhythm, and sheer entertainment value.
