I wanted to like it, and I did somewhat, but couldn’t understand it…
The Xposé is a trip back to the 1960s, delivering spectacular production design and costumes. This movie earns its 5.5/10 mainly because its visual style and musical numbers are genuinely engaging and fun.
However, the film quickly descends into glorious strangeness. Himesh Reshammiya’s deadpan, arrogant detective-actor, Ravi Kumar, is a performance you have to see to believe. You will either love it or hate it.
The murder mystery itself is convoluted and silly, less noir and more masala spectacle. It’s a highly enjoyable, if baffling, exercise in high-camp style over substance.
