Just watched Thalaivii and 7.5/10 – hooked!
I knew bits of Jayalalithaa’s story, but this biopic filled in the gaps like a thriller. Kangana is electric – her transformation from actress to Amma is chills. Arvind Swamy as MGR? Spot-on – you forget it’s acting.
The pace is tight, the politics juicy, the glamour dazzling. Sure, it skips her later years (2.5 hours isn’t enough for a legend!), but what’s here works. G. V. Prakash’s background score pumps the drama, and the courtroom scenes had me leaning in.
Not perfect – some dialogues feel preachy – but Kangana’s intensity and Arvind’s charm carry it. A rare Hindi biopic that doesn’t drag. Wish they’d made a Part 2 for the missing chapters.
Perfect for anyone who loves power, passion, and a strong woman’s rise.
