Khosla Ka Ghosla!

Delhi, Deceit, and the Delight of Khosla Ka Ghosla!

IMDb rating: 9/10

Few Hindi comedies have aged as gracefully as Khosla Ka Ghosla! – a film that still feels fresh every single time I rewatch it. I first saw it in theatres in 2006, and even after countless reruns, it remains my ultimate pick-me-up movie.

The writing is razor-sharp, filled with moments that blend humour, warmth, and quiet rebellion – like the hilarious Dubai investor con job, the real-estate sting operation in the fake office, or the family’s collective panic when Khosla uncle storms off determined to fight Khurana head-on. I still laugh out loud at the fake ‘Mr. Asif Iqbal’ scheme and the sheer delight on Khosla’s face when he finally reclaims his land… it’s pure cinematic justice.

Anupam Kher delivers one of his most grounded and lovable performances, while Boman Irani’s Khurana remains a masterclass in smooth, greedy villainy. Ranvir Shorey and Vinay Pathak’s deadpan energy balances beautifully with Parvin Dabas’s reluctant son act. Every role, every actor seems perfect and pre-destined for this. Dibakar Banerjee’s direction and Jaideep Sahni’s script capture Delhi’s middle-class ethos with unmatched authenticity.

Funny, emotional, and deeply human, Khosla Ka Ghosla! Is the rare film that makes me laugh, cheer, and feel every single time. An easy 9.5/10.
