The Wild Robot

My kids and I curled up for The Wild Robot and walked out grinning – 8.5/10, easy. It’s not just a “cute robot movie”; it’s the kind of story that sneaks up and hugs your heart.

Roz (Lupita Nyong’o, wow) crash-lands on a wild island, accidentally orphans a baby goose, and decides to mom the little guy anyway. Watching her go from stiff “hello, I am ROZZUM unit 7134” to soft, silly, protective parent? Pure magic.

The animation is unreal… sunlight drips through leaves, feathers ruffle in the wind, every frame feels painted with love. It gave me Wall-E vibes: quiet at first, then bursting with life. Pedro Pascal’s sly fox had us cracking up, and Kit Connor’s Brightbill is the awkward teen we all relate to.

What got me? It’s about friendship, family, and finding home when you’re built for something else. No lectures, just feelings. We laughed, we teared up, we left wanting to hug our pets. If you’ve got a kid (or just a heart), this one’s a keeper.
