Koi… Mil Gaya

Twenty years later, Koi… Mil Gaya holds up remarkably well as genuinely good fun – the kind of film that works across generations. Watching it with my children for their first time proved delightful; they embraced it completely, which speaks volumes about its enduring appeal.

Hrithik Roshan’s performance remains the film’s greatest asset. His portrayal of Rohit demonstrates extraordinary sensitivity and commitment, never condescending to the character whilst capturing authentic mannerisms and emotional truth. The supporting cast performs admirably, creating a believable world around him.

Admittedly, some special effects now appear rather tacky – the CGI elements and certain wire-work sequences betray the film’s 2003 origins. The climax and resolution definitely require generous suspension of disbelief, stretching credibility considerably.

However, these imperfections don’t diminish the core experience. For its time, this represented groundbreaking Bollywood cinema… India’s first proper sci-fi family film with genuine heart. It remains thoroughly watchable, emotionally engaging, and genuinely entertaining family viewing.

7/10 – Dated effects can’t diminish timeless heart.
