Blimey, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl is a proper fun ride, even if it doesn’t always hit top gear.
Ranveer Singh is a cracking conman, all swagger and cheek, while Anushka Sharma brings the brains and spark to match him – both are ace, no doubt. But, good lord, Parineeti Chopra absolutely nicks the spotlight in her debut; her loud, loveable Dimple is pure Delhi dynamite, funny one minute and tugging your heartstrings the next.
The whole caper – three women outsmarting a slick fraudster – is a jolly good setup, with lush locales and a toe-tapping soundtrack. That said, the pacing’s a bit wonky; it drags in the middle and the odd scene feels like filler. Still, it’s a breezy, stylish con-rom-com that delivers more hits than misses.
I’d give it a fair 6/10 – worth a punt for Parineeti’s electric charm and the YRF polish alone.
