The Confident Return We Deserved
IMDb rating: 8/10
S02 commences with precisely the focused urgency its predecessor so often lacked, plunging immediately into fresh intrigue without tedious reintroductions.
The writers have clearly learned valuable lessons about narrative economy.
Familiar faces return with genuine pleasure… Oldman’s Lamb remains magnificently vulgar, whilst his collection of professional casualties slip back into roles with comfortable authenticity. The new challenge emerges with immediate urgency rather than glacial build-up, suggesting the series has discovered how to balance character work with actual momentum.
Pacing feels markedly improved… taut without sacrificing characteristic interpersonal friction. Dialogue crackles with renewed energy, and one senses a series now comfortable in its own skin, successfully balancing nostalgia with compelling new stakes.
Production values remain impeccable throughout. Most encouragingly, this confident restart suggests genuine improvement rather than fortunate aberration.
7.5/10: A focused opening that rewards returning viewers handsomely.
