This was better than part 1 but I am still left rather cold by this next instalment.
While the art and animation remains commendably sharp – indeed, the visual aesthetic is a continued highlight – the pace and emotional resonance are utterly lacking. The story progresses as a functional, albeit dry, account of cosmic catastrophe, relentlessly rushing through colossal events without pausing for the gravity to truly land. It feels less like an apocalypse and more like a detailed, yet strangely unaffecting, boardroom briefing.
The sheer breadth of the narrative seems to have diluted the necessary energy, demanding emotional investment the script simply fails to earn. One sincerely hopes the concluding chapter can finally inject the requisite passion and urgency.
