Clooney & Sandler Shine – but Netflix Bloat Editing Stops Jay Kelly from Being a 9/10 Classic
B52 rating: 7/10

Jay Kelly is one of those films that isn’t perfect, but still manages to land emotionally when it needs to. It takes its time – yup, sometimes too much of it… yet the quieter moments have a sincerity that’s hard to dismiss.
Clooney gives a thoughtful, introspective performance, and Sandler delivers a surprisingly grounded turn that adds warmth without slipping into sentimentality. When the film connects, it really does, and the final stretch definitely hit me harder than I expected.
But it also carries the familiar streaming-movie problem: it’s overlong. With sharper editing, especially in the dragging second half, this easily could’ve been a 9/10 instead of a solid 7/10.
BUT watching this only deepened my concern about Netflix buying Warner… If this pacing style gets forced onto DC or Harry Potter, we could see history repeat itself – the same trajectory Marvel and Star Wars suffered under Disney.
