Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007)

I must say, At World’s End is a rather ambitious conclusion to the trilogy, though it doesn’t quite reach the heights of the first two.

The spectacle is undeniable… the action sequences, particularly the grand naval battles, are breathtaking, and the visual effects remain impressive. Johnny Depp continues to charm as the irrepressible Jack Sparrow, while Knightley and Rush deliver strong performances amid the chaos.

The humour lands well in places, and the cast as a whole is committed. Yet the story feels excessively convoluted, with so many shifting alliances and subplots that it can become confusing, especially as it leans heavily on the previous film without standing comfortably alone. It’s entertaining enough in the moment, but lacks the effortless joy of its predecessors.

A solid if overcomplicated finale.
