The Boss Baby (2017)

Fourth viewing for my daughter. She’s laughing harder than ever. I’m finally understanding why.

The Boss Baby works because Alec Baldwin commits completely. His corporate-speak baby is comedy genius – every line delivery perfect, transforming absurdity into sustained hilarity. The voice cast universally elevates thin material. DreamWorks’ animation genuinely impresses, especially Tim’s wildly creative imagination sequences that shift visual styles brilliantly.

The situations land: babies in boardrooms, corporate espionage, puppies as existential threats. Kids devour this repeatedly. The humor holds.

But the third act sags badly. Repetitive climaxes, momentum loss, padding. The premise can’t quite sustain 97 minutes… it needed tighter editing at 75. Pacing issues drop this from fun to merely solid.

My rating: 7/10. My daughter’s: 9/10 without hesitation.

Sometimes the gap between those numbers tells the whole story.
