I went into Back in Action expecting the usual Netflix action filler – noisy, lazy, and forgettable. Instead, I got something far more enjoyable than it had any right to be.
This works mainly because the roles are written with clarity and the actors actually commit to them. Cameron Diaz slips back into the screen with real ease, while Jamie Foxx brings energy without turning it into a parody. Their chemistry carries the film.
The humour around US vs UK attitudes is broad and sometimes stereotypical, but it’s knowingly done and mostly lands. This is not a film chasing depth or big statements, and it doesn’t pretend to be. What it offers is clean pacing, solid action, and a relaxed, confident tone.
A very watchable popcorn action comedy… perfect for a cold Saturday evening with family, as long as expectations are set correctly. 7.5/10.
