King Ivory sets out to be a definitive, multi-angled look at the fentanyl crisis, but it ultimately stumbles over its own ambition.

While the intent to show both the enforcers and the traffickers is clear, the execution feels spread too thin. By attempting to cover every link in the chain, the film fails to spend enough time with the people holding it together.

I went in expecting a hard-hitting drama, but I found myself losing interest midway through. The characters are archetypes rather than individuals, making it nearly impossible to relate to or care about their outcomes. It’s a watchable procedural with high production values and a capable cast, but the emotional core is hollow.

I finished it for completeness, but I left wishing the execution had matched the weight of its subject matter.
