Crypto Man offers a biting, if slightly uneven, autopsy of contemporary greed.
It is impossible to ignore the late Song Jae-rim, who provides a truly magisterial final performance; he inhabits the role of a desperate visionary with a chilling intensity that is simply captivating.
However, the directorial vision feels somewhat languid, prioritizing meandering psychological ruminations over the gritty, technical mechanics of the financial crash itself. One finds oneself yearning for more “substance” regarding the system and fewer internal dialogues.
While the production values are respectable, the pacing lacks the sharp, staccato rhythm required for a truly elite thriller.
It is a solid 6.5/10 – a worthy watch, certainly, though perhaps slightly over-praised in the wake of tragedy. A tighter edit and more financial “teeth” would have served it well.
