28 Weeks Later doesn’t capture the raw, haunting originality of 28 Days Later, but it carves its own path as a tense, action-packed standalone.
The film trades the first movie’s slow-burn dread for relentless chaos, and while the horror feels less visceral, the set pieces – like the helicopter crash and tunnel escape – are visually stunning.
Robert Carlyle delivers a chilling performance as Don, a man consumed by guilt and rage, and Rose Byrne’s Scarlet adds heart to the mayhem.
The predictable twists and stretched runtime hold it back, but for fans of apocalyptic action, it’s a solid 6.5/10. Just don’t expect the same emotional punch as the original.
