Der Tiger (The Tank) is a film that demands patience. The opening stretch makes its point, but getting through the first half feels like work rather than tension. The middle section, in particular, drags and could have been far more engaging or simply shorter. For long stretches, it circles the same mood without pushing the story forward.

That said, the final act changes things. The last twenty minutes finally justify the setup, bringing focus, urgency, and a sense of payoff that the film had been holding back. While the CGI isn’t top-tier, it’s serviceable and never completely breaks immersion. More importantly, the film commits to atmosphere and psychological pressure rather than easy spectacle.

This is not an easy or consistently gripping war film, but the ambition is clear. With tighter pacing in the middle, it could have been far stronger. As it stands, it’s uneven, but the ending makes it worth seeing.
