This one is a glossy 6/10 that manages to look like a supercar but drives like a family sedan.
Frank Grillo delivers a gritty, high-torque performance as Ferruccio, successfully trading his action-hero roots for the focused intensity of a visionary. Beside him, Mira Sorvino and Gabriel Byrne provide a veteran presence, though Byrne’s Enzo Ferrari feels more like a fleeting cameo than a true rival.
The tragedy is that while the actors hold their own, the narrative structure keeps misfiring. The jumping timelines are ambitious but lack the cohesive glue to build real momentum, making the pacing feel jerky rather than fast. Worse, the film sanitizes the struggle; Ferruccio’s monumental business hurdles are cleared with such ease that his life story loses its natural friction.
It’s a handsome production that settles for a scenic cruise when it should have been a red-line race.
