Watching to the End of a Bumpy Road
The finale confirms what I suspected: this show had tons of potential but ultimately tripped over its own feet. While it was always watchable, the ending felt underwhelming and failed to fix the issues from the previous weeks.
There were some big lore nods and a few interesting turns for the main characters, but none of it felt earned after such a bumpy ride. I appreciate the series for finally bringing the High Republic era to life on screen, as that’s a part of the timeline I’ve always enjoyed in the comics.
However, even with some cool ideas, the storytelling just wasn’t sharp enough to make it stand out. It’s a mediocre finish to a show that could have been something special if it had stayed focused.
A decent enough watch for a completionist, but definitely a missed opportunity.
