The Hidden World works well as a closing chapter to the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy.
It looks stunning from start to finish, with some of the best animation in the series. The scale, lighting, and flying sequences are visually impressive, but the emotional core remains the bond between Hiccup and Toothless. That relationship feels even stronger here, and the film leans into it confidently.
Where the film slightly stumbles is with its villain. Grimmel has an interesting concept on paper, and F. Murray Abraham gives him a controlled, intelligent presence, but the writing never fully develops him into a truly memorable threat. He feels more functional than layered.
There’s also a heavier focus on romance this time. It fits the characters’ growth, though at times it edges toward overemphasis. Even so, as a conclusion, the film delivers emotional closure and visual spectacle.
A strong ending, just not the strongest entry. 7.5/10.
