Top-Tier Action, Predictable Tropes – And Why It All Worked
IMDb rating: 8/10
Ep 6 “Footprints” delivers a finale that’s as explosive as it is satisfying.
The action is relentless – Lamb’s Home Alone booby traps, the storage facility shootout, and Sean’s tragic last stand – all hit hard. The loose ends are tied up with precision: River’s growth, Catherine’s heartbreaking exit, and Diana’s rise to power all land with weight.
Even the predictable tropes (the heroic sacrifice, the last-minute escape) feel earned here, thanks to sharp writing and Gary Oldman’s scene-stealing Lamb. The only nitpick? The whisky-fueled MI5 power struggle in earlier episodes felt more nuanced than this finale’s outright chaos.
But with 8.5/10 execution – brutal, emotional, and packed with payoffs – it’s a finale that leaves you hungry for Season 4. The stage is set, the board is cleared, and the Slow Horses? They’re still standing.
