No Question, It Beats the Prequels By a Mile
Let’s be honest: nothing was ever going to top Empire, but this is still a massive win. It easily matches the energy of the first movie and completely destroys the prequels, no question about it.
Watching it again with my kids just reminded me why that high-speed chase through the forest trees has been burned into my brain since the eighties. It’s easily the most memorable action sequence for me.
But the real peak of the entire movie is the showdown between Luke and Vader. It is done superbly. They turned a sci-fi fight into a raw, emotional mess about a father and son, and it wraps up the whole story perfectly.
8.5/10: For me, outside of Episode V, this is better than any other Star Wars movie out there. It’s just a flat-out satisfying ending.
