Ep 12 “Hooked on Monkey Fonics” is a solid spoof on spelling bees and homeschooling… sharp, silly, and never preachy.
Cartman’s monkey-driven meltdown, Kyle’s crush on Rebecca, and that hamster-ball homeschooling gag all land. Ronnie James Dio and his band stealing the dance scene? Perfect. “Holy Diver” hits harder when you least expect it. Kenny’s death by drumstick-wielding monkey is absurd in the best way.
It’s not the tightest episode, but the satire stays balanced – no easy targets, no cheap shots. Just dumb-smart fun with heart underneath. If you like your South Park with a side of spelling chaos and metal riffs, this delivers.
