A Quite Good Dickensian Experiment That Saves the Best for Last
I absolutely loved the concept of adapting Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations in true South Park style, and there’s no denying that some of the execution is genuinely good in flashes.
However, for the most part, it just doesn’t quite match the exceptionally high standards of dark humour that the show is usually known for. The pacing feels a bit too restrained early on, but the last five minutes deliver exactly the kind of solid, unhinged transformation I was waiting for. Turning Miss Havisham into a giant, fire-breathing cyborg powered by robot monkeys and a Genesis Device is pure genius.
It is a quite good, highly entertaining experiment that lands at a solid 7/10, even if it doesn’t rank among the absolute best.
