Turn It Off, Turn It On, Laugh Out Loud
IMDb rating: 8/10
I’d heard the hype for years, and finally diving into The IT Crowd proves it earned every bit of it. This pilot is a hilarious start. Once the core trio is fully established in the first ten minutes, the laughs just don’t stop.
You might catch a few gags that feel like deja vu, but that’s only because this show essentially invented them and the rest of the comedy world has been copying it for the last two decades.
Everything just clicks. From the spot-on A-Team references and the brilliant voice activation bit, to the iconic IT helpdesk demanding a system restart, the writing is incredibly tight. It’s unapologetic, perfectly paced, and sets up a great dynamic right out of the gate.
It’s a solid 8/10 for me. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re in for a treat.
