A Slow Start That Throws Open Plenty of Mysteries
IMDb rating: 7/10
Slow Horses is back with a slow-burn opener that throws open plenty of mysteries, including a few I probably haven’t even picked up on yet. The opening mass shooting kicks off a massive political mess, but I liked that the story quickly brings things back to the crew dealing with the messy fallout from last season.
Shirley’s grief and total paranoia give the episode a real edge, and Gary Oldman effortlessly holds the fort as Jackson Lamb, stealing every second of his limited screen time with his usual grime and sharp bite. The middle part definitely drags while it arranges the pieces, but the final twist at the club sets up a great payoff.
7.5/10: It is a solid start that leaves me keen to see where this conspiracy goes.
