Moves the Plot Forward, But Feels All Too Familiar
IMDb rating: 7/10
This was an okay episode that moves the plot forward effectively, but there is nothing extraordinary here to really stand out on its own.
While JK Coe’s destabilisation theory gives the season a clear trajectory, much of the execution relies on familiar territory. We get the usual tropes of River being dismissed by his superiors and MI5 looking completely useless without Lamb’s team doing the heavy lifting.
The Slough House breakout sequence is fun, but the overarching conspiracy is starting to feel a bit predictable. Even the final twist revealing who is involved with the cell did not feel entirely shocking, as I was pretty much expecting something along those lines anyway.
6.5/10: It serves its purpose as a bridge episode to set up the political rallies, but it lacks the sharp spark of the show’s best hours.
