Massey’s Career-Best, No Contest
IMDb rating: 9/10
You know how this one ends before it even starts, and it still gets you every time. That’s the trick this film pulls off. 8.5/10
It’s the story of a boy who fails at everything early on and refuses to stop trying, and somehow every single setback still lands like it’s happening for the first time, not like a rerun of the same beat.
The writing never oversells the struggle or turns it into cheap melodrama. It just lets the grind speak for itself, one small defeat and one small win at a time, until you’re fully invested without noticing when it happened.
Vikrant Massey is the reason this works as well as it does. He carries every version of this character, from a clueless kid to a man who’s been broken down and rebuilt more than once, and you believe every single stage of it. This might be the best thing he’s ever done.
Go in knowing where it ends up. That’s not the point. The point is watching someone earn it, slowly, honestly, and completely.
