Solid Start with Big Potential
IMDb rating: 7/10
I was a bit cautious heading into this Season 6 premiere. While I found Season 5 pretty good, it did not quite hit the high watermarks set by Seasons 3 and 4, so my expectations were carefully calibrated. This turned out to be a fairly standard opener, but given the exceptionally high bar Slow Horses has established over the years, a standard episode here is still high quality television.
Jackson Lamb continues to rock, anchoring the hour with his trademark filthy humour, razor-sharp intellect, and complete refusal to play by the rules.
The real magic happens right at the very end, though. That final confrontation outside the church shifts the energy completely and opens up so many exciting possibilities for where this story is heading.
7.5/10: a confident, well-paced start, and I am definitely locked in for the rest of the ride.
