Winter: S1.E2

Winter Is Finding Its Rhythm

IMDb rating: 7/10

This is a stronger episode than the opener, mainly because the central case is genuinely engaging.

The mystery keeps me guessing, and I liked how the investigation gradually connects the victim’s hidden identity, his terrible past and the people who had reasons to hate him. More importantly, the solution feels organic, with the clues leading us there rather than the writers forcing a convenient twist or rushing through the final reveal.

Not everything works equally well. Some character moments feel forced or slightly out of tune with the rest of the episode, which takes away from an otherwise solid piece of crime drama.

But the balance between forensic investigation and character development is improving. I also appreciated the progress in the mystery surrounding Winter’s fiancée. It adds another layer to the series without overshadowing the case of the week.

7.5/10: Two episodes in, I’m enjoying this more than I expected.
