Low Low Prices
I thought this was a very good episode about consumerism. The Wall-Mart taking over the town and killing every local shop is still sharp, and it feels even more relevant now with Amazon and endless drop-shipping.
The early parts are funny, but some of the middle stretches start to feel a bit repetitive. Thankfully the final five minutes completely turn it around. The sci-fi vibe, the personification of Wall-Mart, and that mirror symbolism (“the heart is you”) give the episode real weight and make it shine again.
Cartman’s running bet about people shitting their pants when they die is pure South Park excess, almost too wacky even for this show, but it somehow fits.
7.5/10: Solid satire with a strong finish.
