The Original Doomscroll
Ep 11 takes on TV ratings culture and gives the school news show a proper war. I liked this one a lot – it’s sharp, confident, and sits right at the high standard I’ve come to expect from the show.
Cartman as a self-important anchor works as well as you’d guess, and the ratings obsession feels very true to how TV operates, with the network-style panic over each numbers drop landing some good laughs.
What surprised me most is how ahead of its time it is: Craig’s show is basically a 2004 prototype of the animal clips we all doomscroll today. A whole school, glazed-eyed, watching pointless footage of animals wearing hats… that’s just my feed now. The cough syrup hallucination sequence is the highlight, and the boys’ desperate brainstorming has a funny, honest “we’re out of ideas” energy.
7.5/10: very good, though not a classic.
