South Park: S8.E14 Woodland Critter Christmas

Hail Satan, in Rhyme

I have mixed feelings about this one. As a Christmas finale, it did not blow me away like past holiday episodes did. On its own though, it is a pretty good episode.

The rhyming, storybook-style narration is the best part. I loved it. Every line sounds like a cozy Christmas special, and that makes the insane stuff hit harder. Cute little animals worshiping Satan… the contrast made me laugh more than once.

I also enjoyed the exorcism stuff near the end. That whole sequence is dark, silly, and totally South Park. But I admit the story felt stretched in places, and the shock value carries more weight than the jokes sometimes.

Still, I give them credit. They made a Christmas episode about Satanist animals and somehow made it rhyme. That takes guts.

7.5/10: Not the season’s best, but a solid, weird finale with a style I will remember.
