Chaos, Comedy, and a Chartbuster Soundtrack
What a riot! ChaalBaaz is Sridevi at her absolute best, and I’d happily rank it among her finest work. She plays the twins so distinctly that you forget it’s one actor – the meek one and the firecracker both feel like separate people living their own lives.
The comedy still lands today; the “jaani yeh chaaku hai” exchange and the Gadbad chaos had me laughing out loud. The emotional moments hit too, giving the silliness a real heart. Rajinikanth in a comic role is a delight, Sunny Deol is charming, and Shakti Kapoor’s Balma is unforgettable.
The songs are a treasure… Anand-Milind at their catchiest, and “Na Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai” remains my favourite. Pankaj Parashar’s stylish direction ties it all together. Everything simply works.
8.5/10: a comedy classic I can rewatch anytime. Works well even today!
