I watched the boys turn our entire planet into a desperate network pitch meeting, and I loved every second of this S7 opener.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone cleverly weaponize their own series history right out of the gate by dragging back the pilot episode’s anal probe gag to kickstart a brilliant sci-fi meta-parody. The journey to the alien network headquarters hits all the right satirical notes about how callous TV executives treat shows on the chopping block.
I found the pacing remarkably tight, keeping the laughs sharp and the concept from wearing out its welcome. Watching the kids negotiate for our survival by manipulating cosmic ratings feels like a hilarious nod to the network pressure the creators themselves faced.
8.5/10: an exceptionally fun season opener that proves this town still has plenty of fresh gas left in the tank.
