Shock the Monkey
This is a great episode about childhood romance, full of satire and a warm ending.
Wendy dumps Stan out of nowhere, he falls apart, and the boys try to fix it the only way they know how – by taking him to Raisins, a perfect Hooters spoof with underage waitresses named after luxury cars who flirt for tips. The whole restaurant bit is brilliant.
Jimmy’s disastrous attempt to talk to Wendy had me laughing out loud, and the goth kids’ line about how you have to dress exactly like them and listen to the same songs if you want to be a non-conformist is absolute satire.
On top of all that, the 1970s and 80s power ballads and rock songs are used perfectly. Everything lands: the heartbreak, the absurdity, the music, and the sharp little observations.
8.5/10: One of the stronger episodes of the season for me.
