Baby, Meet Jesus
I really enjoyed this one.
Cartman gets kicked out of Moop, bets Kyle ten bucks he can go platinum first with a Christian rock band, and then just starts swapping the word “baby” for “Jesus” in every love song he can find. That songwriting method is pure genius and had me laughing every time Faith + 1 hit another chorus. Watching them climb the charts with those barely-disguised romantic odes to Christ is some of the sharpest stuff in the episode.
The whole piracy-strike subplot with the celebrity musicians whining about slightly smaller private jets lands nicely too, and Cartman’s complete meltdown when he finds out Christian labels only give out myrrh records is perfect.
7.5/10: It’s a solid, funny episode that does exactly what it sets out to do. I had a good time with it even if it doesn’t quite reach the highest highs of the season.
