Nordic Noir Turns Nasty
IMDb rating: 7/10
The Cycle kept me guessing, and I loved that. I never knew where the story was heading.
It starts like a moody Nordic police investigation. Then it slides into horror, and it keeps shifting from there. Honestly, that's what hooked me. It's a bold swing, and for me it worked.
The pacing slowed down on me in places, and I felt it. A few budget effects looked rough too. But they hurt less than you'd think, because the script is good, the performances are solid and the direction is sharp.
I enjoyed every twist. The mystery held my attention, and the change in tone never felt like a gimmick to me.
My one gripe? I wanted more, a lot more. You can see how good it could have been with a bigger budget and a tighter edit.
7.5/10: If you like mysteries that turn into something else, give it a go. Know as little as you can before you press play.
