Ep 2 picks up the pace dramatically, delivering the chaotic energy this Halloween special desperately needed.
Steve Pemberton turning up as Pauline was a fantastic throwback, but David Mitchell as a talking head on a platter completely stole the show. Reece Shearsmith’s Jekyll and Hyde physical comedy bit had everyone sweating, showing just how brutal this format gets when real effort comes out.
The contestants are finally going on the offense instead of just cowering in corners. Lou Sanders pushing Jack Dee to his limit added great tension, and the constant fear of accidentally screaming keeps the room on edge.
It still has a few quiet moments, but the guest appearances and aggressive Joker cards make this a massive step up from the opener.
7/10 for me because it delivers big laughs and proves the tweaked concept actually works when the cast commits.
