LOL UK’s Halloween Special was a mixed bag overall, starting sluggishly before finding its footing mid-run.
The smaller cast really limited the comedy styles on display, making the opener feel like a stretched-out setup. Things picked up once David Mitchell’s talking head cameo landed and Steve Pemberton showed up as Pauline, but the special relied heavily on guest spots to build momentum.
Reece Shearsmith’s Hull Joker and Phil Wang’s absurd vampire baby delivered the biggest laughs of the run, proving the high-stakes concept works when the bits land. However, the dark room missed its potential, and the final face-off fizzled out far too quickly to deliver a truly epic conclusion.
Between the uneven pacing and missed climax opportunities, the special settles into a solid seven out of ten rather than a complete game-changer, though it remains a fun, spooky watch overall.
