This season just keeps delivering!
Leonard’s unexpected encounter with the university’s wealthy benefactor is the centrepiece of a brilliantly executed comedy plot. The setup is excellent, and the episode gets every detail right: Sheldon’s outrageous suggestions, his wonderfully inappropriate quips about Penny, Leonard’s growing embarrassment, and even President Siebert’s enthusiastic involvement in the whole affair.
What makes it work so well is the combination of sharp writing, direction and performances. Leonard’s discomfort is beautifully played, while Sheldon treats the whole situation as a perfectly reasonable scientific transaction. The humour builds naturally, with each character adding another layer to the absurdity. Even the aftermath and Leonard’s attempts to defend himself are hilarious.
8.5/10: A top-class episode that makes excellent use of the ensemble and keeps this fourth season firing on all cylinders.
