The series has really found its feet now, and this is another solid episode that feels much closer to the Avatar adventures I loved.
There is plenty going on, with competing plans, personal challenges and Kayoko’s increasingly aggressive response to the Faceless. The attack on the ruins builds nicely, while the Anomaly adds the kind of supernatural mystery that makes this world so interesting.
I particularly enjoyed seeing the cat-monkeys back in action and the introduction of the chakras as part of the twins’ development. These elements bring together the action, spirituality and character-driven storytelling that made the original series and Korra so compelling.
The larger story is also gathering momentum, with the twins’ past and the Anomaly increasingly intertwined.
8/10: This is the direction I wanted Seven Havens to take, and I’m thoroughly enjoying the ride now.
