I found this a delightful comedic crime heist.
The main reason it worked for me was the leads… Steve Martin and Michael Caine have fantastic chemistry, and their back-and-forth is the real engine of the movie. Watching them try to one-up each other kept me smiling the whole way through.
The Mediterranean locations added a lot too; the sunny Riviera setting felt charming and light, which matched the tone of the film perfectly.
That said, I could see a lot of the story coming from quite early on. It never really surprised me, and that predictability held it back from feeling sharper or more exciting than it was.
Still, the strong performances and the setting carried it enough that I had a genuinely good time overall. It is solid, sunny entertainment.
7.5/10 for me… fun while it lasts, even if the path is familiar.
